At some point in time you have to differentiate between valid pop-ups
and pop-ups caused by malware which has infected your PC.
The former are run by either the website itself, or the site-hosting
firm; these are advertisements and if they don't "pop up", the website
doesn't get revenue from the advertiser. If you don't like the fact
that a website has ads on it, find a website that doesn't and/or email
the site administrator with your suggestions of other methods of keeping
the site open.
The latter are in the "adware" category and can usually be eliminated by
using ...
spybot/adware detection & removal tools:
