Hi,

I have been reading up on the problems using Norton and
System restore. I noticed that the advice of Charles W was
to get AVG free---Can I just ask is it the AVG Free
Edition that you mean. Sorry to ask but I am reluctant to
download anything unless absolutely sure. Many Thanks :-)

Either use AVG Free (version 6) from
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php or alternatively eTrust from
Computer Associates (http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/), currently available
free as part of their EZArmor package (you don't have to install the firewall
component (Zone Alarm) unless you want to do so.

On Win Me virtually any AV application is better than NAV which for many users
causes more problems than any virus it might claim to stop.

I had been using Norton for many years, and have no regret at all getting rid of it

I had used AVG - free version for about 2 weeks now, all the problems I had before I uninstalled Norton had not showed up so far

Charles.
