System Information Freezes

When I try to run the system information tool, it will run
and diplay the basic computer configuration, but it then
locks up and I have to end task after that. It won't let
my access any of the sub categories. Do you know how I can
fix this or if it will affect other parts components of
the OS? Thanks.
