I deleted some registery values and now I need them back.
Can you please tell me the right name and values for:

1. System restore option ok in startup -section
2. Another value in startup -section with word "task"

Path for the values:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio
n\Run

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio
n\RunServices

Regards,
Stupiido

PS. I don't have a backup-disk nor a backup copy from the
registery-values.

Stupido,

You can restore your registry two ways.
Use System Restore to roll back to a restorepoint BEFORE
you editted the registry
OR
Boot yur machine with your WinME EBD (Emergency Boot
Disk), and type
>scanreg /restore
Select a date from the five presented BEFORE you edited
your registry. Remove the bootdisk, and reboot.

If you dont have a WinME EBD download the WinME OEM image
from www.bootdisk.com, run it, and follow the prompts to
create a bootdisk.

Good luck.

Hi again,

Well there is one problem in restoring registery values from EBD, while I need ONLY these deleted values back. If I restore values
from another EBD, I must install all programs and drivers once again to get original right values back.

I succeeded in having one missing value back by starting stmgr.exe (or statemgr.exe) in WINDOWS/SYSTEM/RESTORE -folder.

It created registery value automaticly and system restore functions started to function at the same time.

I think this was all I need this time, allthough my WIN ME system is somehow unstable now. It can be suddenly crashed unexpectedly
and I dont know reason for that yet (blue screen appeares with an error message, press any key to continue ...)

I'll take control over ME somehow, thank you all for this newsgroup info arena.

Regards,
Stupiido

No - the registry is restored from the backups that windows makes on a daily
basis (it stores the last five backups), and will retain the information
required, so long as you haven't installed any new programs since the backup
you used.

Make sure that the *Statemgr entry in MSCONFIG|Startup is checked - or your
System Restore will not function (and neither will System File Protection -
which is how you got into this mess, I suspect!)

See my comment re *Statemgr, above

Check your system for parasites and viruses - update your AV and run a full
system scan of all files, and download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com,
update it, run it to remove ad/spyware.

Post back with details of your problems - somone will assist
