Hi Rick!
To make things easy for you and anyone else on this post
I'm going to copy-'n-paste the old post below...
>>>Try Scandisk in SafeMode...
Run SCANDISKW, Choose "Surface Scan" and in the Advanced
area...
type
SPAMDUFT
to set some more stringent scanning options
Rick
and thankyou for providing that link; most people just
say "my computers
broke some error message thingy" which doesn't help at
all.<<
Well, I couldn't get into the direction you discribed
above. It seems that there is no "SCANDISKW" on my WinME
in Safe mode. Maybe that's the problem. Do I need to
update anything in this case, that you may know of? I'm
thinking this because I couldn't find any "Surface Scan"
in my advanced area.
I read another post you had up that expalined, "Restart
your computer with your Windows Rescue / Start Up Disc
(floppy) in and then run the scandisk from the A:/ dos
prompt."
i'm going to try something...

Probably easier if you just kept piling on the thread but whatever.

sorry, I meant Scandisk from the Start/Programs Menu tree (scandiskw.exe
is the windows version of scandisk; it's what is actually run even
though it says Scandisk)

"Type of Test" = "Thorough", and it's in the General tab.

Can't hurt, though you said you've already tried that. Add the /SURFACE
parameter though.

Oh, that's always good ;)
