First of all I would like to express my appreciation to
all of you that have been answering all the postings. I
have found so much helpful information here. With all the
computer issues (especially mine) I must admit I was a
little leery, but thank goodness you have not taken
advantage of the needy such as myself! THANK YOU! I do
have one question that I'm not sure can be answered. We
also have a laptop. When we first notice we had been hit,
I set a system password on the laptop. DUMB MOVE as I did
not write it down (I used that foolproof method of first
letters of a sentence...) not foolproof, I can't remember
the sentence I used! I spoke with Microsoft and they are
not able to provide any assistance. They obviously have a
scripted response as I was not able to get any direction
on what I may do... I even put in the recovery disc but it
still requested the password. Do you know if there is any
way to get back in my system?? Any advice would be
appreciated. Thanks again for all the great help.

Your problem appears to be that you set a BIOS password? and can't remember
what it was
You'll need to either post the exact make/model of your laptop so that we
can research it (or someone who knows it can respond), or go to the
Manufacturers for instructions on how to reset the password - it's a
hardware adjustment, usually, and may involve opening the system case.

For what little it's worth, the manual for that system is available here
http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Portal/support.do?srch=GUIDES
A read of it shows that they're very close-mouthed about how to reset the
password, and you should plan on calling them :-(
They seems to have a new online chat service -
http://www.computers.us.fujitsu.com/www/support.shtml?support/contact/notebooks/
notebooks
-
which may be able to help (you'll need your serial number to log in)

The following may help -

Good Luck!
