Hello: What should I be using instead of Norton?
Mike M - 27 Jun 2004 00:01 GMT
Personally I use either Computer Associates eTrust (which I've used now for
four plus years, it used to be called InoculateIT) or the free AVG.

Suitable products include AVG and eTrust (Computer Associates):
a) AVG (Free version) from GriSoft
(http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php)
b) eTrust from Computer Associates. This is an excellent low cost AV program
that I and many others contributing to these NGs are using.  eTrust and
EZArmorLE are FREE to new users for one year until Jan 2005 (see
http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/index.cfm)  Just the AV application can be
installed if preferred.  EZArmorLE is a rebadged version of the free Zone
Alarm but does include a fifteen day trial of the paid for eTrust badged Zone
Alarm Pro.

Other possibilites include Trend Micro, Panda, Kaspersky (pricey but
excellent) and F-Prot.

H,

Personally no, but have only heard good reports, especially so in the last few
weeks, from those that are using it.  NOD32 should perhaps have been added to
the list I posted but some might consider it a little pricey.  Seems to be an
A++++ virus catcher but apparently a little weaker when it comes to trojans
and non viral malware.

Cheers,

Hi Heirloom, I am, for reasons I won't go into here. I've started using it
and so far find it very good. It keeps itself up to date with sig. files
without my intervention.
I will know whether I intend keeping it or not when it comes to the next
WU's if I have no problems with them while it's running I may keep it,
then again I may go back to my previous one, only time will tell how well
it performs on my system <g>

Hi Joanie!!!
Please keep me posted on your opinions of the app.  You have my
email, just let me know.  It is one of a few I am looking to use instead of
NAV.
                   Thanks, my fair lady........
