Can not uninstall ME in the add/remove programs. I need to
uninstall ME to install XP home. When I click on remove
screen goes blank. I do not want to lose Outlook express e-
mail. If i reformat I lose my e-mail.

There is no need to uninstall Win Me before installing XP.  When you
insert the XP CD you will be offered a number of options including
upgrading Win Me, multi-booting XP and Win Me and clean installing XP.

I am unaware of any reason why XP will not install either as an upgrade or
clean install other than where the Upgrade Advisor has indicated that
there will be problems - normally only though when upgrading rather than
clean installing.  I am unaware of any problems when attempting to install
XP clean on to a system currently running Win Me since it offers the
option of deleting a partition(s) and making a new one for use by XP.

May I suggest you post to a newsgroup supporting XP for help.
