I am looking for a solution to rebuilding the QIC catalog of a backup set
spanning multiple disks where the very last disk is missing. The remaining
disks are available and have no errors. The backup set was created using
the WinMe version of backup. The removable media type is ZIP-100.
I have found older posts confirming that the Windows 98/Me version does not
store the catalog information on the last disk as the Win95 version did.
So while some older posts say it can be rebuilt I have not been able to find
out the details on how to actually do it. Anyone here familiar with the
procedure?
Microsoft Backup is essentially a lower function version of Seagate Backup
Exec and the later Veritas versions. So the procedure from those versions
could help as well.
Thanks,

I wouldn't swear to it, but I suspect that you've been misinformed.
AFAIK, all Win9x backup sets of the QIC variety need both the first and last
disks available.
