I followed instructions to reinstall windows installer- it
worked- thank you! Now, still cannot run norton 2005,
although followed all instructions to remove, redownload
and reinstall. I have 2 new programs in add/remove
programs. One is cccommon and the other is norton anti
virus parent msi.

When I click to remove, it tries to install- and I get
error message- this msi must be launched thru set up.

I am concerned that Norton is what caused the problem with
my installer to start with- not my trojan issue.

Is it safe to run search for files/folders and remove
cccommon and norton parent msi?

If this does not work- I will request my money back and re
install my 2002 version I was completely happy with- and
just update the anti virus portion. I have had to
completely remove my firewall and system works to try to
install- seems odd.

Thanks again- just need to know about getting rid of those
2 programs per above. * Also, when I search for Norton and
symantec programs in explore- those 2 files do not appear.
I do have set up to show subfolders. And, I also deleted
the norton and symantec registry keys per the instructions
from tech support- ...

Thanks - Debbie

Debbie,

Not for the first time, NAV2005 rarely installs without problem on Win Me
and isn't suitable for use with Win Me.  Period.  Again I very strongly
advise you to instead purchase and use an AV product that works with Win
Me without the many Norton induced problems caused by using NAV.

I can't seem to get help from their web site- which after
paying for a product is very annoying- this has taken 6
days- still not resolved-, so, will try to get a refund
and start over- now seem to be having all kinds of
problems- very frustrating- thank you!

Best of luck in getting your money back.  Not knowing the jurisdiction
that covers you I hope that it includes the appropriate consumer
protection legislation..

locate and download from MS the windows installer cleanup.  Read directions
and then run.  Had similar headaches with Sonic software where I could
neither remove or reinstall.  That fixed it.
