Typing from Outlook / Advise if my text is jumbled again!  Restore worked
Saturday; Error msg today/Couldn't Restore.This is TYPICAL.  I Re-DnLoaded
the 290700 patch and it Did Work again (600 MB space / *statemgr checked
always in StartUp. Daily Creation of ChkPoint hasn't worked in awhile. Think
I want to Re-Build RESTORE using Mike Maltby instructions to Jerry S. I'm
WEAK on DOS SO: After the DOS line is typed: REN C:\_RESTORE   OLDREST,
instruct says (c) Remove Floppy (d) Reboot your PC   (2) Questions: 1. looks
like TWO empty spaces between RESTORE and OLDREST and one space in other
places. Do DOS entries sometimes require TWO spaces between phrases or single
letters and some ONE, or is ONE always OK?  (2) After removing Floppy, what
command(s) is used to ReBooot my PC? I can only guess something like: cd C:
Then C:\ Windows   What's real answer?  Many Thanks!

Craig,

Please try and use paragraphs as this will help those who might be able to
help you.  The lack of paragraphs has nothing to do with how you input
your message.  <g>

Downloading the 290700 patch will have automatically wiped out all of your
previous checkpoints.

Lack of automatic checkpoints has nothing to do with whether the 290700
patch is installed or not.

DOS has no interest in the number of spaces between the parts of a
command.  What is important is that a space is used where indicated in the
script you are following.  Often those posting such scripts use multiple
spaces to emphasise where a space is required.  One is sufficient when you
then use that command.

Dos has been a while for me also but the 8.3 file convention applied to
directories also. A leading space was ignored and a trailing space was
interpreted as an invalid switch.

Whilst good news I have to tell you that any changes made to Winsock will
have had absolutely nothing to do with whether the state manager creates
automatic checkpoints or not.

Cheers,
