Scan disk will not work. It keeps says is has tried 10 times. I have closed all running problems except Explorer. I have tried to start in Safe Mode. My computer is having problems and I need to scan disk. Help.

It appears you have some application running that is writing to disk in
the background, quite possibly a log file of some sort. Boot to Safe Mode
and, after ensuring that you are not connected to the net, disable your
anti-virus application and firewall. Now try running scandisk.

Mary,
ScanDefrag will efficiently run the MS or Norton disk utilities.
The log will list all of the running programs and you can choose
to close the unprotected ones by using Restrictive Mode. See
the ReadMe for a more detailed explanation.

Run Disk Cleanup, ScanDisk, and Disk Defragmenter.
ScanDefrag is a great program, post back if you have any
problems.
p.s. never use your true ID when posting to a newsgroup.
