For details of one possible cause of your problem see MS KB 240348 - "All
Installed Programs May Not Be Displayed in the Add/Remove Programs Tool"
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=240348) where the problem can be
caused by one of the entries either having a display name or keyname
longer than 63 characters.  Whilst Win Me isn't mentioned in KB240348 it
does apply to Win Me.

Please do not post in capitals. They are hard to read and you may get
ignored.

All Installed Programs May Not Be Displayed in the Add/Remove Programs
Tool
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=240348

I have fixed several of these recently for others.
The problem will occur in these two situations:

1. The uninstall keyname for an application is greater than 63
characters.
Solution: Rename the keyname.
e.g. this is invalid
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234]

2. The DisplayName for the key is greater than 63 characters.
Solution: Shorten DisplayName
e.g. this is invalid
"DisplayName"="1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234"

If you need a second opinion, export the key to a text file and email
it to me.

*** Note that the invalid entry that can cause this is not necessarily
connected with the ones missing so you must check all entries.

If you are familiar with regedit, collapse everything so all you see
in the left pane is my computer with a + to the left of it. Click
file > export, under export range be sure all is selected, give it a
filename (I use the date ex. 050405) and location to save it to.
Double click the attached zip file to extract the contents then double
click on the extracted varldid.Reg file, click yes, you're done.

What on earth is the connection between the .reg file you posted and
missing Add/Remove entries?

(Not that it matters to the OP, as he is posting from the web
interface and won't see your attachment)

I misunderheard him, thanks for pointing that out.
For no known reason I thought he was saying the windows
setup/installed programs window was blank, which is what the
attachment would/should restore. After looking at my copy I
see the entries are now in 8.3 format. Do you know if it will
function correctly with the entries in 8.3 instead of lfn ?

You are replying to an ancient post (to me, anyway, as I only keep the
last 10 days in Agent)

Please post full details if you need a response.

I had the same problem some time ago and after talking to many people the
best way to fix it was to totally reformat the computer.  I had accidentally
removed them all by clicking on the wrong thing while using a program called
win patrol.  Even reinstalling windows this didnt work, you need to do a
reformat. :(
