I have recently installed a new keyboard, which is fine, except that occasionally on startup it will plant its full name in the
taskbar as well as inserting its icon alongside the clock. I find this most annoying and wonder if there is any way I can restrict
it to just the icon. Deleting the taskbar entry removes all the additional keyboard functions and shortcuts!

Examine the details of the Control Panel/ Keyboard applet, and any
associated ancillary program, in the Preferences section, to see if there is
a checkbox for "Minimize the App to the Systray".
It's possible the program is simply inadvertently and erratically failing to
do so, and remains in the Running Tasks section, like any other program.
Obviously, if you close it, all its support for the additional KB keys
disappears.
See the KB vendor's website for an updated driver/program.

Many thanks for that, Jack. I have discovered a new driver, so will install that and if all goes well for the next few days,
hopefully, won't trouble you further.
Jim.
