I'm still using Win Me.  My system got so it would not shut down on its own.
I had recently installed a new version of Zone Alarm personal firewall, so I
tried to restore my Win Me to a previous configuration.

The "It may take some time for restore to run..." screen has been up
overnight, and I'm not confident it's working OK.  What is the best way to
recover from a bad System Restore?

Should I just remove power to my system and plan to use my recover disk and
Windows Repair options?

Do NOT use your recovery disk as this will most likely return your system
to the state it was in when first delivered with the loss of all your
data.

Personally I would switch off your system and reboot and take things from
there.  How far back were you trying to restore?  Why were you using
system restore rather than uninstalling Zone Alarm?

So, try rebooting and if you continue to have problems post back with the
details.

Thanks for the quick reply, Mike.

I was only trying to restore to a point last Tuesday, before I installed the
new ZoneAlarm.

I've used Zone Alarm for years and never had any problem.  With the new
version, I did a Full Install rather than an Update.  Maybe this was the
problem.

When I get off work, I'll try the shut down and reboot option first.  I may
also try to boot into Safe Mode.

At any rate I'll try to post my results to this thread.

Thanks again,
Dave
