Don't know if this is the right place for these questions. I have several
issues that developed after installing Verizon DSL. Basically I had it
working with some minor glitches, but then I made the mistake of calling the
Verizon online assistence. They had me clicking this and that for half an
hour and when my system finally froze, they said they thought I needed a new
hard drive. Not very helpful. Anyway, I simply restored the system to a day
ago and I'm back, almost! The DSL works good enough.I'll ask my question one
at a time. For this round, it's a password problem. I am now unable to have
the system remember any passwords. That's my 2 internet connections, ebay,
PayPal and a few others. The "remember password" boxes are never available to
be checked. The computer also asks me to sign on the network with a password(
though I can simply click the box off and go on with life)each time I start
up. Annoying! I would prefer to just turn it on and have the system go to the
desktop by itself without having to sit there and click on anything. That's
the first problem. Any help will be appreciated.

This sounds like you're either Cancelling the logon at boot, or are logging
into a default account - Log out, and log into an account with a Username -
leave the password blank if you don't want to actually have to log in
afterwards.
Check in Network Properties that you are set for Windows Logon to be the
default logon.
reboot - and see if that helps
