i'm sure i'm in trouble.Finally got IE6 to download,and all was good.only my
son got on and i'm not sure, but after he downloaded msn messenger, i ran
defrag, and it kept starting and restarting.Had to turn puter off with buton.
then back on ,scandisk ran, then the errors. XMS cache
problem,Enum\HTREE\ROOT\O SUReg Create key failed. as far as i know no new
hardware was installed, for it to be telling me new hardware found, for it to
find the software for.so it errors back.  I'm getting very fustrated, just
got back from tune-up. Its a compaq5004ca,with ME.

Try running System Restore (in Safe Mode if necessary) and roll-back to the
time when you "Finally got IE6 to download, and all was good." ASS-U-ME-ing
it was fairly recently.

See if that improves things.

Or, if you are really stuck and can't even get into Safe Mode - a last
resort :-

Boot with your WinMe Startup (floppy) Disk and choose 4) Minimal Boot.

At the A:\> prompt, type "scanreg /restore" (no quotes and note the space
between the g and  /) then press Enter.

Follow the screen prompts and when asked, select the LAST 'good' date BEFORE
THE PROBLEM, continuing with the instructions.

Don't forget to remove the floppy disk BEFORE you tell the machine to
restart.

Hopefully, this will get you going again

Good Luck
