No Sound

Originally, this Me computer had great sound without added speakers.  We
added some anyway for child-friendly volume control.  We switched the
speakers to our new computer, but can't seem to get the sound back on the Me.
I've checked what seems obvious to me (no longer an expert).  The volume is
at the highest level.  None of the mute boxes are checked.  How can we get
our sound back?

By the way, this computer came from the store with Windows already on it.
The cd that came with it has nothing on it that would help.

Thanks in advance,  Shannon

Where was the sound coming from, if you had no speakers? the in-box speakers
of older machines are usually atrocious!!
Perhaps you had a monitor with speakers? - which you unplugged to be able to
plug in the externals?

Believe it or not, we were using the atrocious in box speakers.  The point of
this thread is to allow Freddy Fish to be played without bumping me off my
new computer (for which I swiped the added speakers).  It worked wonderfully
before we plugged in the external speakers.  Even Freddy Fish shounded great.
The only draw-back was the necessity to exit some games to turn down the
volume.  The knob on the externals stifles a lot of family frustration.

I think the external speakers were plug and play.  It is doubtful that
anything was knowingly altered.  Our monitor does not have speakers built in,
nor does the keyboard.  I noticed in one of the drop down boxes some choices
for output, like speakers on monitor, speakers on keyboard, speakers on
laptop, etc..  None of the choices included in-box speakers.  Could I be
looking at the right choice, but not recognizing it?

Ah - in that case, what you need to do is actually disable the external
speakers...
go to Control Panel

Click on Sounds and Multimedia
click on the Audio tab, and then on the Sound Playback 'Advanced' button
See if one of the settings there solves your problem.

If not, it may be a case of looking for the settings in your game...
unfortunately there seem to be a number of versions of this game available
from different sources - so it's difficult to give precise instructions.
Details of the publisher and version, and the exact title, would help.

it's also possible that you installed the sound card at the same time as the
speakers??
if that's the case, then try disabling the sound card in your Device
Manager, and see if that brings back the sound to the PC speaker.
