Hello Mike,

I can find neither information (nor help) on this question:

When the end of support takes effect for Windows 98, 98SE and Millennium
does this also mean that the download of updates from the catalog here:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/en/default.asp

will no longer be possible?

Thanks.

Ben. ( A user of the full version of WinME!!)

Ben,

Microsoft are hoping that updates for Win Me will continue to be available
for a year of more following Win Me dropping out of extended support on 11
July 2006.  This should include the Windows Update site, the Windows
Update Catalogue and the Microsoft Download Centre although no guarantees
can be given.

Further to Mike's comment, my understanding is :-

1) Windows Updates for 9x - will be available for 12months minimum from 11th
July 2006
2) Windows Update Catalog for Win9x will be available for 12 months minimum
from 11th July 2006
3) Windows Updates will cease before the Catalog
4) Windows Updates Catalog for Win 9x will continue indefinitely - with NO
guarantees!!!! - until such time as MS decide that either  a) not enough
people are making use of it - or b) they need to use the space for other
things

AFAIK, none of the above is enshrined in stone anywhere - so don't quote me
on it! :)

Hello Noel,

Your input is always of value.

Went back to your website and changed my links accordingly. One's website
may speak volumes. My preference in WinME websites is Jack Gulley's. It's
sort of in my face and click as I pick. My experience of yours is a feeling
that I had best change into my work gear and prepare to knuckle-down. God I
am lazy these days. Constantly on the look-out for buckets in case I fall
over them.

Cheers, Noel. Good luck with the search for appropriate placement of
talents.

Ben.
