Ok, like i said eariler (bashing head into wall) installed the new cd rom
works fine.... or so I thought. Now I get the same error code KRNL386.exe
When I try to use it for too long! SO is it a windows program error? or is
it..... I have no real clue. Please help! Will try making new back up disk
and looking like you said, but any thing else you know of?

Alright, I ran the boot drive and tested 8 different cd's and no error
reports for any of them. So now I am really clueless, cause I have no clues
to share either. Only thing I know is it is in the "Start program KRNL386.exe
error" Start will be shutting down now!!!!! {:o) Have I said many thanks and
an offering of brownies for answers?

Ok, possibly no longer the CD-ROM, but Xanadurose wrote further :-

Hmm... I think that you'll need to give EXACT error reports, precisely as
shown on the screen and preferably including error codes, if any.

I suspect that the problem *may not* be with KRNL386.exe, but rather with
START.EXE. See "How to Start a Program From a Command Prompt in Windows"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126410/en-us

However, I would also STRONGLY urge that you do a comprehensive
virus/spyware/malware check on your PC using 'up-to-date' definitions as
there seems to be very little else (according to the MS KB) likely to cause
'Start' errors. Do you have any other operating systems on your PC? (i.e. do
you Multiple Boot e.g. XP and WinMe?)

Concerning virus/spyware/malware etc. - Noel's advice is to suggest :-

"You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:

http://www.merijn.org/files/CWShredder.exe
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/CWShredder.exe

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware, and other such nasties from your system."
