I tried many times to install Norton Internet Security 2005 on my PC running
Windows Me, but it has alays been impossible to run this anti-virus properly.
Last time I had even received a "fatal error" message and I had to restart
the PC in Safe Mode.
Has anybody suggestions to help me to sort out of this mess ?

No Norton product is compatible with Win Me, further IMO no Norton
domestic product is suited for any Microsoft Windows Operating system be
it Win 98, Win Me, Win2K, XP or Vista.

There is only one bit of sane advice I can give and that is to purge your
system of all things Norton including NAV and Live Update.  For a working
antivirus application I would then suggest you look at Atwil's Avast! or
Grisoft's AVG.  Both support Win Me and even better both have free
versions.
