I am having some difficulty viewing some sites whose source is java based.
(slow load times, sometimes having to refresh, etc.) If I dload Suns jre
will it disable or uninstall MS java? Which runtime becomes default? Which
java is preferred? Comments suggestions..all welcomed. Thanks.

Go to the following site and download Sun Java.  Click on the upper
righthand side of the screen.

Microsoft no longer supplies it due to a lawsuit with Sun.  I have been
using this one for a year or two and places like Pogo Games need it to work.
Can't answer you on which runtime......but they only *update* is Sun.

Thanks for your reply Heather. I`ve read of your problems regarding java &
Pogo. I`m just wondering if any others in the group have had problems
viewing java sourced web sites. Was the solution to upgrade to the sun java?

Aha.....Canadian, eh?  Wondered what you were doing up at this hour, so
checked and see you are out West.  I am on the outskirts of Toronto.

Anyway.....I have had some problems with Pogo, but Java wasn't at the root
of it.  In fact, I did upgrade to Sun Java because of Pogo, IIRC.  It seems
that when one has problems with the website, the tech support on  Pogo tells
you to upgrade your *MS Java*.......which of course, no longer can be done.
I haven't bothered to check where their link leads to, but it would have to
be Sun Java.

But I will leave it up to the others to advise you......I know that Pogo has
problems.........

a) if you use a popup stopper; and
b) if your Zone Alarm restrictions on popups and advertising is too
strict......

But I really don't have any now that I sorted some other things out.  Sun
Java not being one of them.  My ISP (Rogers) merged with Yahoo and that in
itself did cause a lot of the problems, until I clamped down on it and
didn't allow their software on here.

And hey.....Pogo works on the Firefox Browser with Sun Java very well.  I am
about ready to put that one back on here now that it is no longer a beta
version.

Cheers.....Heather
