A friend is using Windows ME and just about 4 weeks ago Windows started
telling them they did not have access rights to the Quickbooks Pro, in fact
it told them that they need to contact thier system admin so they could get
"Standard User Rights" the popup states they only have restricted access and
the program will not function. Now there are no other users and no system
admins on this system and they have no idea as to how this happened but need
to access Quickbooks so they can do thier billing and invoicing.
Please note that they have Norton Systemworks 2002 and want to uninstall it
but are given the same type of message during the uninstall process.
Is there a default admin account on ME?, one they can log into and grant
access to any and all users?
It seems strange that this would start happening from out of no where, as
they do not download anything and they only use this system for billing
reasons.

Win Me, like all other Win 9x operating systems has no admin account or
privileges.  What you are seeing may either be the result of having an
unwanted virus or other malware present on the system or because the
system has Norton never works installed.
