Hi Harry.....
It was a mess and I uninstalled it.....but it seems to have left a lot of XP
folders and files on my WinME hard drive. I am slowly getting rid of them.
Next time, I am buying a second hard drive and putting it on as a clean
install and dual booting with WinME, which I happen to like very much. I
don't know why the upgrade was such a mess. So before you do it, check with
the folks here first.
Cheers.....Heather
Thanks, Heather:
I was thinking of installing it on my D-partition of the same drive ( I only
have one with 80GB's and 40 of them hidden, remember?) and the C-drive with
2GB's holds the WinME.
Does that sound right to you?
Harry.

Can't help you on that one, Harry. I have a full 40 gig here that is not
partitioned. Still have over 20 gig free, counting C and D.
Have you not looked into finding your missing 40 gig?? I am assuming that
it disappeared from view when you partitioned the drive.
Cheers....Heather

That's allright, Heather.
I know the missing GB's are there from my PM8's partition information, the
trick is to recover them.
But I'll leave that for later until I've "read the <F> manual!!!
Your assumption of them disappearing when I partitioned, is totally correct.
I still have plenty of room left on D for WinXP, not?
If we keep at it, we'll both get it right in the end, don't you think?
Wish you lots of luck. And maybe I'll have some, too.
Cheers,
Harry.

I was thinking about installing a 2nd HD on a Dell 4300 machine (3.5 years old)
that is running Win Me. I've already used a partitioning tool to create a D
drive on the 1st HD and am using that for Drive Image backups. I moved my cd
drive letters to J, K, & L (the Zip drive, which will be disconnected when the
new HD is installed). When I install the 2nd HD (120 GB), I'm going to format it
(Maxtor software) into 4 partitions of 30 GB each; the first threee will be in
NTFS and the last will be in Fat 32 (for Win Me Drive Image backups on the 2nd
HD). I hope to then create image backups onto the last partition of the 2nd HD
for the 1st 30 GB partition on the 1st HD. After that is done, I'd like to
format the 2nd Partition of the 1st HD into NTFS for Drive Image (Vi Protector)
backups of Win XP from the 1st partition on the 2nd HD.
1st HD: C: 30 GB FAT 32 with Win Me + E: 30 GB NTFS Powerquest backup of Win XP
2nd HD: NTFS x (D: 30 GB Win XP Home + F: 30 GB + G: 30 GB) + H: 30 GB FAT 32
Powerquest backup of Win Me
I hope to dual boot with the Windows XP OS, however I used a patch so I could
get into DOS mode with Windows Me and it broke Safe Mode, so I have to edit
config.sys (I believe this is right) to switch between booting into DOS or Safe
Mode. I hope this won't affect the ability of Win XP to dual boot. (Will it
affect it, since it was so effective at breaking Safe Mode?).
We are interested in getting rid of Win Me in the future, and possibly replacing
it with the next OS (Longhorn?). Is there a procedure that is most effective at
erasing the Win Me partition and installing the Longhorn while still being able
to dual boot with Win XP?
I figure once I get the 2nd HD installed and formatted, it will take me a month
to find the XP drivers for the various items on the computer. So I will take my
time before installing XP, I want to download the new drivers first.
Boot Magic has to be installed on the first 8 GB of a hard drive, that is not
possible where the Win ME OS is right now, and I don't believe it is possible
unless the 1st partition is 8 GB or less anyway (defragging issues with Norton
really make the address critical). This is why I trust Win XP to dual boot, more
than I trust Boot Magic to dual boot.
We are dissatisfied by Win Me because of Resource limitations in the face of new
security software. We're down to 10% resources by just having a web page open
and trying to print from it while Word is open. MOSearch & MDM7 are turned off.

That's very much needed and appreciated.
Thank you.
