Hello:

Under:

Tools-->Internet Options--->Settings--->View Objects

I now fail to see any of my Downloaded Program Files. These are mainly
Active X..

Same happens when I use the Windows Explorer and navigate to Downloaded
Program Files.

However, they continue to be functional. They also show up as expected on
Spybot's  1.4  View Active X tool

Furthermore, when I test for the functions of the Active X I have
downloaded, they  function as expected. i've only tried a few of those, but
so far they seem fully functional.

My question is:

Why aren't these active X  Downloaded Program Files now visible and/or
accessible via the Internet Explorer Options and/or Properties?

I have recently scanned for viruses and spyware. None were found.

Thanks in advance:

Eli

It may be that for some reason, the folder has lost its 'special'
attributes - try this.

Start|Run
type COMMAND and click OK
at the C:\Windows\Desktop> prompt
type ( with a [Enter] after each line)

CD \WINDOWS
ATTRIB   -R   +S   -H    downlo~1

Then close the window, and navigate to the folder again

If that doesn't work, then try this.....
type COMMAND and click OK
at the C:\Windows\Desktop> prompt
type ( with a [Enter] after each line)

CD \WINDOWS
ATTRIB   -R   -S   -H    downlo~1

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder, and set all contained files
Properties to unchecked - EXCEPT for the desktop.ini (which should be set to
Hidden) - close Windows Explorer

then back in the DOS window type
ATTRIB   -R   +S   -H    downlo~1

Close the window, open Windows Explorer, and look for the Downloaded Program
Files folder again.

Thanks Noel:

Seems that the Downloaded Progam File folder mysteriously reappeared--with
all the expected entries after I had gone to a site which asked me to
download an ActiveX, which I allowed.  When I looked at the downloads
folder, all the files not listed earlier had reappeared.

Seems kinda odd

Thnaks again:

Ira
