Hello and Happy Holidays for everyone!
I was having some problems shuting down Windows ME (for the first time) and
a friend of mine told me that one of the possible solutions for my problem
was going to
Settings > Control Panel > System
and choose these options: "Force APM 1.0 Mode" and "Desactivate verification
of energy state".
After I done this, I´m not having problems with the Shutdown.
But I don´t know what these options relly mean, if they are very important
or not and why I can´t find them anymore in the Control Panel?
These questions of mine may sound stupid but I´m just curious.
I´m sorry if there´s any mistake describing this situation but I have
Windows Me in Portuguese.

Thank you very much!

I'm sure you meant Portuguese, even if the accent may be Brazilian?
:)

Cheers,

No, I meant Brazilian. That's the only automatic translation on the page at
the Microsoft site. So, I used the Google tools and hoped for the best but
I've found translation isn't really as accurate as I'd hope. There's quite a
few similarities between the Latin derived languages and the idea being that
they'd be able to hopefully gather enough information from the Brazilian
translation (hopefully more accurate than that of the web services in a
search engine) to understand it.

Galen....they speak Portuguese in Brazil......but Spanish in the rest of
South America.  That's why Oops was grinning.  But I see no reason why
the Brazilian translation would not work.

Buenos noches....Figgs y mi esposo habla espanol.  Or words to that
effect.  (my spanish is nowhere as good as his)

Thanks a lot for your "precious" help...
It was very useful.

Correct, the same way there is no Argentinian, Chilean or American.

That's kinda what I figured but, even in English, it seems something was
lost in the translation. As I look up at my post/response it appears that I
was contrary sounding but in reality I wasn't meaning to sound so? Heck, I
wasn't even in a foul mood. <g> Heck, I was even sober as a judge!
