I am using Windows ME and Windows Media Player 9 to try to burn a CD.  When I
press the Copy button it does so but when the Roxio applet screen is
displayed, I receive an error message -- winburn has caused an error in
INDIVBOXKEY, winburn will not close.

I have tried  re-installed the media player and re-booting the pc, with no
luck.

Any suggestions???

The above website has older versions of a gazillion programs.  And I
seem to recall that the highest I went with Windows Media Player on
WinME was version 7.1.  This was kind of verified by the old version
website because it specified what O/S version 9 was for......and WinME
was not one of them.

Wait till the gurus wake up.....they are in England.  But I am sure you
would be far better off removing version 9 and putting 7.1 on your
computer.  Or better yet, get Roxio or Nero for burning.  I found Roxio
on eBay for a really good price.

Cheers.....Heather

WMP9 installs 'happily' in Win ME - It's part of the Security CD updates,
after all!
However - the CD-burning part of WMP9 is only effective in Windows NT
systems, IIRC.... or was it that it had problems if a non-Adaptec burning
application was already installed????
Anyhow - INDIVBOX.KEY (note the dot!) is to do with WMP's copy protection

This looks like it contains some useful advice for you, Debba.

REALLY??  Well, I guess I had better stop answering "queeries" then.  I
am 200% sure I only have 7.1 on the old computer...........BUT, I never
used it to burn CD's.....had Adaptec and then Roxio for that.

In fact, other than *video jokes*, I still don't use WMP 10.....

I have had a similar problem.

I just use deepburner.

Download and use deepburner, free, spyware free, easy to use.

I recently had a thread “IE hangs”.  Noel & Mike helped with a clean
reinstall of IE6.  Added to the install was a sys restore (it was broken
before), to relieve the “hangs”.  Have a few residual items one of which is
WMP9 won’t open.  Get message “internal application error” has occurred;
probably nothing to do with the IE hangs.  Question, do I reinstall WMP9?
Where to get it?
As far as CD burning, my system includes a peripheral CD/RW with Nero
software, which works well.

www.oldversion.com is one good place.  I recommend it highly and use it
myself.

I suggest that you keep trying with WMP9 - it shouldn't need a reinstall
