Shane - 26 Jul 2006 11:20 GMT
This is it, my last newsgroup post. I said I was quitting once before, but
that it was unlikely to be more than temporary, nor was it. Well this time
it's permanent.

You know, it's interesting in this strange social club not just for the long
termers, but also the characters one meets briefly and then they move on,
almost like acquaintances struck up in an airport departure lounge, killing
time while our flights are delayed.

So maybe us long-termers are like people living in the departure lounge,
endlessly, never going anywhere? I don't just mean windowsme.general, of
course. All newsgroups. All online forums. While sitting in front of a
computer for long periods is patently *not* healthy, my opinion is
pretty-much decided now that, if you have your health and/or your youth, you
should spend less time at the computer! But then I've always been in the
minority, going for walks rather than just driving everywhere. In that
respect my opinion is largely irrelevent.

Well, I've got to get out.

Be seeing you!

Shane, signing off.

Bet it's not!! - More come-backs than Frank Sinatra?

More like reception at The Hotel California - You'll be back!

Just like any 'addiction'

Be seeing us where? - Where else? - See what I mean? <g>

As long as people continue with (esp. WinMe) issues and require assistance,
my guess is that you will still take a peek and try to offer whatever advice
you can. You're that sort of person. And, whether you will cease all other
'off-topic' stuff still remains to be seen <bg>

However, good luck anyway Shane (esp. with your health) and I'm sure I will
echo others in their thanks for your support over the years.

You'll be back <g>

Well, if this isn't just like a scene from the old movie...............the
little boy running out after the man leaving on horseback, hollering,
"Shane!  Shane! Shane!"    I may not visit as often as I did (or should),
but, coming here is tantamount to going to visit friends........you really
shouldn't abandon good friends, Shane.   Of course, this is strictly your
decision and I am sure it will be honored by all, but, you will be sorely
missed in many ways if you follow through.  Hope you get this.........
Heirloom, old and has Shane left the
building?
P.S.  You can't get away entirely....
I still have your email addresses, ha!

Sounds like sad news, Shane.
Will you be able to follow through on your promise?
What a strange coincidence, first "Sugien" (Paul Bryant) leaves and now you.
I suggest you cancel the reunion.
And why not just cut back on computer time?
There must be a way.......

           Harry.

Sorry to hear it Shane,

You have been very helpful to those like myself.  We drop by
here every so often looking for magical cures for system
ailments and you frequently pitched in to help.

I'm not sure of your circumstance but reading between the
lines of posts between you and your friends (like Joan) I
assume you have medical/physical problems that are
aggravated by sitting in front of a computer.  Our health is
one of the most important things in our lives.

Click on Shutdown, guard your health, and live a long
fruitful life,

You're right Job it is health reasons for his backing off, and also as you
say he will be missed in here but I will be keeping in touch so can let
you all know he's OK <g>

I have neither health (mental) nor youth (physical). So, I reckon it's
not my time to leave the newsgroups just yet. ;)
Having recently spent 8 days without once turning on a system, I know
how you feel. There *is* life without computers ...

May your next beverage be your favorite flavor, Shane.
Take care and the best to ya !

<lol> He's OK I was talking to him last night, one good thing during the
conversation I had said something can't remember what but he couldn't
think of a sheep joke to get back at me with <g>
As for life without computers, don't know about that, got to have
something to do with my hands <g>

Can I be so bold as to intrude in this closely knotted group and say farewell
for all those left on the tarmac of the airports of this world.

Many of us are no long termers, some passing by, others returning for the
conviviality that makes this group so special.

What can I add to these testimonies...best wishes Shane from a bystander,

    Paul
