When I boot up my computer I get the error message:
A required .DLL file, PSAPI.DLL was not found.
I must click the OK on the message then the computer
starts up just fine.
I have the Windows Mellineum Edition.
How do I correct this? Help!
Thanks, Jack Sarfati

psapi.dll is not a Win Me file although included as part of MS Office and with
Win 2K/XP systems.
What applications or patches have you recently installed? When did this error
message first appear? If not too long ago this might be an ideal time to use
system restore to roll your system back to before this problem started.
I have a feeling that you might have a parasite or some sort on your PC and if
you have not already done so I would also recommend you download yourself a
copy of the free Ad-Aware 6.0 from Lavasoft
(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also SpyBot
(http://security.kolla.de/) and scan your system for and remove any unwanted
parasites, adware, spyware, foistware and any other junk that might be hiding
on your PC.
Another user reporting a similar problem found that he also had a variant of
the CoolWebSearch parasite so it I would also suggest that you download and
use the CWShredder tool to remove it if present
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip). Unfortunately
neither AdAware or SpyBot seem to be able as yet to detect the CoolWebSearch
parasite as it keeps changing. For more details of the CoolWebSearch parasite
see http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html.

I had the same problem occur yesterday afternoon. My
virus scan is clean. I tried finding the dll to download
on Mircosoft's website but had no luck. I also tried to
load it from my original system restore disk, but couldn't
find the file on it.
I contacted Gateway, who suggested I reinstall windows,
then all my apps, etc. I sure hope someone knows as
easier way!
Thanks,
Sandy

Sandy it is always a good idea to try and read and try out any replies that
have already been posted to the original message rather than simply repeating
the question.

I'm not an expert ,but had the same problem . Tried the restore and just
made it worse. I had >dll's missing everywhere, So I did a Google search
for .dll files. Then downloaded " RZDLL" and have never had THAT problem
since. Can't hurt.

I don't understand how your DL'd copy of RZDLL , Backup & Restore, found
and restored an alleged missing PSAPI.DLL file on your machine?

FWIW: I have just recently installed an Nvidia Ge Force 440 video card and
I noticed that I have the Psapi.dll file in a windows nt 4 folder along with
other Nvidia stuff. I assume that it is a needed file for that OS. I have
not had the error message you describe but I have had some issues after
installing the new card.I do not think they are related with the Psapi.dll
though.
