I think I've got a little further down the road of working out why a third of
my music collection doesnt get scanned without errors by Windows Media
Connect.
Firstly - Windows XP SP2, All Patches, No Firewall.
Files ripped from original CD by CDex at 320Kbs as MP3's.
Further maniputation with Tag&Rename3 & Rio Karma Music Manager.
Rights: Local System and Network Serive have FC down the tree.
Looks like files that are reporting Unknown have had their Tags amended.
All the ID tag info is there and works through SlimServer and also WinAmp.
If I right click MP3 file, Properties, Summary and select Advanced those
files that are failing have this section blank.
How do I get the ID tag info to be populated into this area.
An automated method would be appreciated!!!! : )

Solved it. MOST Tag editors dont write to the XP file properties and this
causes issues with Windows Media Connect.
I downloaded MP3Tag from ManiacTools
(http://www.maniactools.com/soft/mp3tag/) which is small, cheap and does the
job. (just hilight file and slick on Save and it rewrited the tab info into
the XP file properties and moves onto the next file.
.....and for all those guys in MS who are reading this, please tweak your
app to use the ID Tags rather than the Windows 2000/XP file tags. Ta
