I just purchased a DLink DSM-320 and have firmware 1.06 and using WMC (per
DLink's recommendation).  I am unable to play protected windows media.  When
I go to Set Up -> System -> View All Servers -> then select my server, I
receive the following messages:
"Checking for Authorization..."
"Registering Device ... "
"Registration Failed. You Cannot play protected Windows Media Files."
Of course the reason I purchased the DSM-320 was to play my protected media
through my home stereo.  Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

Mine is doing the same thing.  I've had mine for about a month with no
problems, and today I checked for updates and it said 1.06 was available.
Now it won't register.

Another message I receive when attempting to play a music file (wma) is "The
Device Should be revalidated.  Please register the device again."  I can't
find anything on how to register the device.  I've removed and then re-added
the device in WMC but not sure if that has anything to do with registration.
Please let me know if you can figure it out.

I'm far from qualified to give advice here, but I had some similar troubles
before my current ones... Right after loading 1.06, I was having trouble
keeping the thing registered with WMC, and it therefore would not play my
protected files. Based on a recommendation in another post here I uninstalled
WMC, restarted the server PC, and reinstalled it. Things worked much better
after that.

Another scenario I ran into was when I had BOTH WMC and the Dlink server
code installed and running at the same time. Turns out I was registered on
the Dlink server, not the WMC server like I thought. Of course, I couldn't
play protected stuff in that configuration.

Thanks.  I thought this was a great suggestion so I uninstalled WMC,
rebooted, then reinstalled WMC.  But alas, it still won't register...

Have you tried running in WIRED mode? Sounds like packets are dropped
somewhere. : /

Since upgrading my DSM 320 firmware, I find that I constantly need to
re-register my device.  I use a wired LAN, and uninstalling, rebooting, and
re-installing WMC did not seem to help.  Am I the only one who is having this
problem only after the 1.06 DLink firmware upgrade?  I'd hate to rollback,
since I was not able to play protected WMA before the upgrade.  Ahhh!

I have uninstalled, and reinstalled WMC about 2 dozen times.  Still, it won't
register.

Another notable:  On the device propertes "presentation URL:  mine shows
"http://192.168.0.15:50635/N/A" (the IP is 192.168.0.15)

If I click on it, it shows up as "the page cannot be found", but if I remove
the "/N/A" I get an XML page.
