Ok similar problems to those I read here, mainly the PC won't see the 360 (Pc
wired to Linksys wireless router and 360 using MS wireless Bridge - the 360
also won't see the PC).

Additionally I cannot get folder sharing to start in the settings panel of
WMC.  I click start but it never does and the box to tell it to automatically
start is grayed out.
I haven't seen this issue addressed anywhere so I thought I'd post it here.

Thanks for any help.

Additionally I have tried the CACLS command line work arounds posted here and
elsewhere and the WMC still won't initialize.  I tried WMC on a wireless
laptop connected to the same and network and bingo it worked forst time.

Could it be the wireless NIC on the PC conflictin?  The PC is also wired but
the wireless NIC was installed for testing about a year ago and never removed.

Thanks

The sharing service must be started for WMC to detect any devices.  You need
to concentrate on getting sharing started and then work on the detection
problem after that.  Start by checking the event log for detailed error
messages.

Yes sir I realize that (8 hours working on the issue help realize that) but
the shared service will not start. My services log show a WMC Initialization
error (I assume the same on mentioned in earlier posts).  I ran the CACLS
commands from the command line and WMC still will not start.  I pretty much
have given up and am using a laptop instead that does work.

What is the error message in the event viewer?  Without more detail I can't
recommend a course of action.

Here it is:

Service 'WMConnectCDS' failed to start correctly, due to
'InitializeNetworkMonitoring' returning error '0x80004005'.

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to find a root cause for this problem.
I've seen two or three other reports of this.  James has a theory that this
is related to UPnP, as much of the UPnP monitoring is setup in this
function.

Is the SSDP service started?  Is the UPnP service started?  Do you have more
than one IP address assigned to the network card?

Yeas both services afre started and the NIC only has one IP assigned but I do
have two NICS (one wired and one wirelss).  Could it be the wireless NIC is
causing a conflict??

I should note that I can get the WMC to work on my work laptop so I have
kinda worked around the issue, but I'd still rather use my desktop as it has
over 3 gig of pictures and additional music my laptop doesn't.

On a side note I use Yahoo Music Unlimited and the songs I download from it
won't play on the 360.  Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Darren

Please disregard the Yahoo questions as I resolved that issue on my laptop.

It seems like James is already investigating this one. You should follow the
instructions on this thread, and mail in the resulting logs as James
suggests.  James will take it from here.
