Media Center Extenders extend the experience of a Media Center PC to a TV
in another room. Windows Media Connect allows you to share out content
with UPnP-AV recievers on your home network.
Media Center Extenders are not UPnP AV Recievers.

Thank you for the response. But OMG. This is unbelievably confusing. Guys, it
should not be this hard. Why are you trying to confuse the consumers? There
is no way this stuff will take off with all of these seemingly competitive
technologies and insane requirements on pseduo OS's (MSMC). This market could
have been simplified and unified, but instead we have a mess of technologies
thrown at the poor consumer.
Oh well, maybe in a couple years things will settle down and converge into a
reasonable offering.
