I think I may have found a "bug" in the media connect software.  When playing
a video, I can hit Fast Forward and move through the video--but when I push
play again, the video restarts playback from the beginning.

This does not occur when using the "Dlink Media Server Software"--so I
suspect this is a MS issue.  I using firmware v1.04 on the DSM 320--and
server software version 1.02 from D link.

Anyone else notice this?

I'll forward this to the test-lab to see if we can reproduce the problem.
If so then I'll take a look to see if its a problem with WMC, or in the
HTTP-GET of the Media-Lounge.

Thanks for the report!

Alan,
Can you also get the lab to look into the A/V issues with the WMC and the
Dlink-320. When most of us play back xvid or divix formats the video skips,
pauses and has blocky pixalation. Playing a xvid or divx file is impossible.
Test it out with a file thats larger than a GB. The Media Server that comes
with the Dlink device does not have this problem.

I've passed along that information to them as well.  I don't know if they
have got any xvid or divx media of that size but they'll see what they can
do to find some.

The test-lab was able to reproduce the problem (using wma files, we
couldn't reproduce the problem with video files).  It appears that when you
hit fast-forward that the MediaLounge is requesting the file again from the
beginning.  We'll gather up the documentation on this issue and forward it
to D-Link.

Thanks for your help finding this issue.

Great.  I am glad you were able to reproduce it.  Thanks for the confirmation

I have noticed similar behavior from the DMS-320. Unfortunately it
seems to be an issue with the player possibly not fully following the
standard and not the other media servers. I am able to reproduce the
symptoms with NeroMediahome, Windows Media Connect and other media
server implementations. The only media server that works "correctly"
is the one supplied by dlink.

Another symptom is the inability to play movies (mpg or avi) that are
longer than 15-20 mins without "hanging";

This is using the following versions:

DSM-320: Firmware 1.04

NeroMediaHome 1.0.0.15 {still the beta/demo version of mediahome; cant
wait till the 28th for the final to see if they implemented any
workarounds)

WindowsMediaConnect (version downloaded from windows update oct 17
2004)

dlink media server: 1.02

[I have  tried other media servers that do audio only, or are not yet
publicly announced, of which the ones that are supposed to be able to
do video have the same problems mentioned above. As a note, not all
were made using the same framework sourcecode/dlls such as the
publicly availible intel framework so that was not a common factor...]
