I am unable to copy a playlist to a CD-R. What is the problem and how do I fix it? Windows Media Player uses the system's IMAPI CD burner. The burner isn't what you most would call reliable. There are a few things you can do to troubleshoot the IMAPI burner, but none are completely guaranteed to work all of the time. These tips can be found at http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#xpcdburn. This "should" help with most of the common error's like 8004020E, 80040227, C00D11AB, C00D117E, C00D11C9, Etc, Etc. You also might wan to try reinstalling the player over itself. - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player.aspx If WMP doesn't see your CD burner (C00D1176) then please check out http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#norecognize If you are running into problems burning specific songs they might be corrupt in one way or another. This is very true with any files downloaded from P2P applications like Kazaa, WinMX, etc. If the site doesn't help fix the problem then the next thing to try is to download and install the free Nero Fast Burn Plug-In. (Here: http://www.wmplugins.com/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemID=228) This should work, the only problem is it will not burn DRM-enabled WMA's. Such as those purchased from sites like Napster, MusicNow, Wal-Mart, etc. In my opinion the "best" thing to do is forget about using WMP to burn CD's until we get a better burner. Nero 6 Ultra Edition is a great program to burn CD's along with Roxio's Easy CD Creator or Easy Media Creator 7. Generally it doesn't have a single solution or answer. To help us figure the real problem you it would be great if you could provide some more basic information about the problem. That being said please read on for some basic troubleshooting help for the error. If none of the information below helps you will need to provide us with *as much* information about the problem as you possibly can. - See http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#isolate For a few common solutions to error C00D11CD, please see http://www.updatexp.com/c00d11cd-error.html Q: Are you playing an AVI? If so...You likely don't have the right codec installed for that specific AVI or you have a bad install of the codec. Using a DirectShow decoding filter such as FFDShow will decrease the problems you could run into with codec problems. FFDshow will decode XviD, DivX 3/4/5, 3IVX, and has support for many other codec's. It can be downloaded at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=53761&package_id=48261&rel ease_id=95213. (Download ffdshow-20020617.exe and then run it's installer) If you have the correct codec installed and the video still doesn't play download GSpot (Below) and run your AVI though the program. If Gspot says "Failed to render", "Missing Chuck", etc. then your video file is corrupt. If you just wish to install the individual codec's for your specific video or FFDShow doesn't support the codec for you file please do the following. - Download and use GSpot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html) - Run the installer, open GSpot, goto File>>Open. - Look for the 4CC code for the file's Video Codec - http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#codec will help you. (Or post the information back here and I can help) -If you don't get audio, what codec does it use? GSpot also tells you this. Q: Are you playing any type of content directly from a web link? (Streaming audio, video, radio, etc) If so...You must provide the exact link to what you are trying to access. The homepage isn't important, but an exact link to the content is. Q: Are you playing an MPEG/MPG file? (DVD, SVCD, and VCD) If so...Please reinstall DirectX. This will overwrite quartz.dll and re-register it in Windows. quartz.dll is the MPEG Decoder that WMP will default to. (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx?url=/windows/directx/ downloads/default.htm) If reinstalling DirectX does not help please provide the following. -Does it only happen with a few MPEG/MPG files? -If so...It's most likely a file encoded with the MPEG-2 codec. If so...Please see http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#xpcdburn. That being said the IMAPI burner that is included with WMP isn't very good. That should cover most MIDI issues. Q: Are you trying to play a MOV, RM, RA file? If so...Please goto http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=316992&product=w98 and notice that those are not supported file type in WMP. You need to use RealPlayer or RealOne for RM, RA, Etc. And then use QuickTime for MOV.
