When I double click on an MP3 or WMA it will look like its playing but there
will be no sound.  If I stop and play it will still be silent.  I can only
get sound if I pause and then play or if I drag the seek control.   This has
only recently happened.

Any ideas?

Sorted it, the Mute option (f8) was turnned on, however when you scrub the
seek bar the sound starts again, a bug methinks.....

Hey, I have this same problem, but the solution you tried doesn't work for me.

If you right-click on the WMP logo (top-left of the player) you should be
able to access the drop down 'Play' menu. Go to the sub-menu labelled
'Volume' and ensure that there is not a tick against 'Mute'. If there is
deselect this and the files should play correctly.
