First error- upon freshly rebooting my computer, I can open WMP and listen to
my entire library. However, if I close the program and attempt to open it
later, I see the install screen.
Second error- upon freshly rebooting my computer, I can open WMP and listen
to my entire library. However, if I stop the playback and come back some
time later, of course without closing and reopening the program (see above) I
receive an error message saying that the very files I was just listening to
(.wav files) are not recognized.
Zach, please help a brother out. It really sucks to have to reboot my
computer to use WMP.

Once you see the install screen again:
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer in regedit.exe.
Right-click on this and choose Permissions...
What entries are present under "Group or user names"?
Does the install screen loop at that point? If you look on deja.com for
"GroupPrivacyAcceptance", that'll show you the registry key bypass for it.
Yeah - your registry/system is broken, which is why this is happening. I'd
be interested in knowing what programs you're running before this happens,
as it sounds nasty.
