I can't get past track 1 when I'm ripping from a CD.  Track 1 is successfully
recorded (I'm using .wmv format), and WMP says it's Ripping the next track,
but there is no progress bar and when I hit stop to try to get out of it
Windows displays a Program Stopped Responding message.  Any advice?

You mean WMA (Windows Media Audio)?  Can WMP play the second track?

Thanks -- yes, I meant .wma format --  and yes, WMP can play the second track
from the CD, but won't rip it.

I get the same problem but not always the second track.  It just can't rip
some tracks and then goes unresponsive.  Playing them is no problem.
