Hi I have a problem with that same error
I was told that "The file you are attempting to play has an extension that
does not match the file format. Playing file may result in unexpected
behavior"
I think its Windows Media 7 version
The operating system is Windows 98(SE)
I was trying to play a video file from a website which wasn't playing and
decided to save the target and play it in the windows player but that message
occured"

PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME

That's not an error, that's a warning.  What's the URL?  Did the file work
or fail?

Ah, I gotcha.  I know why this failed.

Does
http://www.ljmu.ac.uk/networkvideo/liveevents/asxgenerator.asp?pk=958
work for you if you open that from *within* WMP?  That's the URL you were
trying to watch.
