I have just down loaded Media Player 9 and have been trying to veiw AVI files
on it but there is no picture coming up on the screen.  Does anyone have any
ideas as i have recieved no error message about this.  I have been able to
view the picture on another computer but aren't able to on mine.

(I did previously have trouble with an older version of media player where
it did tell me that it was unable to download the appropriate compressor -
error code 80040200.  I am not sure if this would have anything to do with it
though.)

You propably dont have a reguired codec
For example if you try to play a mpeg-4 video file you propably need the
div-X codec. This is not included with windows media player instalaton you
can have it from www.divx.com
