What has WMP 10 done to my DVD R/W Dual drive?

Ever since WMP 10 was automatically installed on my WinXP computer(to take
the place of WMP 9) a couple of weeks ago, my DVD R/W Dual drive lost its
ability to handle some functions with DVD+R disks.  I could burn DVD+R disk
perfectly but I cannot now.  At the beginning burning process, the program
stopped and displayed buffer error message.  Even when I tried to generate a
mirror image file (in order to make copies), same error happened!
Quite frustrated.  Did WMP 10 change some settings on my computer or my DVD
R/W Dual drive?  It will be highly appreciated if someone could advise me out.

No, it didn't.  It doesn't touch that in any fashion.
