This problem started awhile ago and I have not been able to fix. Whenever I
try to play a downloaded video file and when I try to play videos online I
get dumped. I use to have no problems and now I can't look at videos online
at all. Everytime I try I get dumped offline and have to restart and now I
can't even play files that are downloaded. Can someone please help. I have
media player 10.

Setting your connection speed will probably address this...

I must not be looking at the page right or having a brain melt down. I did
the speed test but I don't seem to understand if I am actually getting
results. I noticed that some of the stuff in info talks about Norton problems
with SP2, I do have a Symantec Antivirus and Giant AntiSpyware, could these
be conflicting. I tried to do the speed test but I don't understand what I am
seeing (it says receiving 2.9  megabytes and right below it says 1.5
megabytes received). I so appreciate your help, and I think I need a little
more.

Actually, once you determine your speed, set that under WMP's
Tools:Options:Performance so WMP doesn't have to look it up.

I don't know exactly what to do with the information and am not sure I am
totally grasping it, sorry. It says receiving 8.8 megabytes, received 2.9
megabytes. That is the test I just did. Can you give me a hint on how to use
that information to fix my problem. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Hm.  If I'm unclear, you could try actual product support-
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#psssupport
, who have much more experience in breaking issues down for people.  =)

My suggestion right now is that you go to WMP's Tools:Options:Performance
tab.  Click Choose Connection Speed.  Select "T1" from that associated list.
Click OK.

What this does is bypass TAPI, which on some bad modems can conflict with
video playback.
