MS site for "plugins" lists numerous - among them CyberLink and NVidia
decoders.  Would there be a recommended list for comp. running WINXPHome,
WMP10 (up to date),  has PowerDVD installed - believe ver.4, Dell installed -
Also has nVidia settings prog/graphics ??  Believe I must need something as
neither WMP10 nor PowerDVD would play a DVD of a family wedding.  Both gave
me the "encountered a prob and must close" bit.
Any help/suggestions will be much appreciated.  Thanks.

Are you asking for help with a DVD problem, or asking for a general list
of WM plugins (that might do anything)?

If the first, more specific details of the context would help. If the
latter, then indicate what sort of things excite you about WM plugins.

Hello, Mike.  Thanks for replying.
Given the programs installed and the situation as outlined in my OP, I took
a guess that decoders were needed.  Went to the Plug-ins site, ran the tool
(they were incompatible) and was shown several "brands" of decoders.   Since
both CyberLink PowerDVD and nVidia progs are installed, guess my question
should have been "which should I choose?".
Thank you again, for taking the time to reply.

If you have PowerDVD installed already, then there is no reason to
assume that another decoder will help with your problem.

Thanks... That was my thinking, that I should just get the newer version of
PDVD to update it, but thought I'd like an expert's opinion beforehand.  (Was
able to view the DVD via the player tied to the TV, but was puzzled as to why
WMP10 let me down - first time for everything, I guess.)
Thanks again,
bobnrobin

Well yes, but as I said before, knowing more about the actual problem
context would have helped. We know nothing about the type of DVD, video
format, how it was made or anything that might lead to a quick or
inexpensive solution.
