I am using a laptop connected to a Samsung SyncMaster 710N external monitor.
If I play a video in Windows Media player 10, I can see it on my laptop
screen but not on the external monitor. The WMP skin and all the controls
show up but no video. Anyonw know the fix?

open WMP Tools:Options:Performance:Advanced menu dialog
try : "hardware acceleration OFF",
than "overlays OFF"
and also "Video Mixing Renderer OFF"

You got me looking in the right direction. It ended up being this:
Tools-Options-Performance-Advanced. The key was under Video Acceleration.
Use overlays was checked. I clicked on "Use high quality mode" instead and
that did the trick.
Of course it took a few trials to figure it out but you put me in the right
place. Thanks!
