I want to know the size of my playlist so that I can pick my favorite songs
for a limited device. It is similar logic to going shopping, knowing you only
have $200 you are selective based on the limit. I see no way to do this in
WMP11. Can it be done or corrected?

never tried with a device but if you put in a blank CD then the burn window
shows a guage with how much space is left depending on how many songs in
your list - give it a try with your device plugged in

Go to the left hand panel and select Playlists, right-click there and
choose "Create Auto Playlist". Add a bunch of critera in the top
section, such as Date Added, Genre and so on (experiment with these
values and save to see what the playlist contains).

The last of the 3 sections allows you to set additional limits.

What you want there is to select "Limit total size to "... (say 50
megabytes). Save the playlist with a descriptive name.

Now go to the Sync tab. Drag the new playlist from the left hand panel
to the right hand (Sync List). Then just Start Sync and the items will
be copied across.
