I was trying to rip a cd and I got the following error message. "Windows
Media Player cannot rip one or more tracks from the CD."

The error message ID number is C00D10D2

I have windows media player 11.0.5721.5230

My windows operating system version is microsoft windows xp, media center
edition, version 2002, service pack 2

I would appreciate help.

Are you trying to rip to MP3 or WMA?  Does the other work?

When did this start failing?

Does normal CD playback work?

I am having the same exact problem.  If I go to the Device Manager and
disable the Digital audio box, it appears to start ripping the music but on
playback there is no sound.  Everything appears to be working on playback,
but there is no sound.  I have tried in both WMA and MP3 nformat.  Normal CD
playback will not function unless the digital audio box is checked in the
device manager.  I have Windows XP Media Center edition and Windows Media
Player vers. 11

Either you have DMA *on* in Device Manager or your CD (or DVD) drive's
analog audio cable is not connected.  [On Win9x, DMA is set on the
Properties:Settings dialog tab of your CD-ROM drive in Device Manager.  On
WinNT (2000/XP), this is set under Device Manager:IDE ATA/ATAPI
controllers:Primary IDE Channel:Advanced Settings.]  Within WMP, the
"Analog" (vs. Digital) setting is in WMP's Tools:Options:Devices menu
option, in the Properties for the CD device in question.

If none of this helps - your best options are to either try an upgrade to
Windows XP (better CD handling and drivers are found there) or to try a
different CD-ROM drive.

Thanks for your info.  I am still a bit confused.  Should I have digital
audio enabled or not?  It seems that if I do not have it enabled the CD will
not play.  If I do I can't rip anything.  Where do I check to see if the
analog cable is connected?

If it doesn't play with that on, sounds like something is screwy.
You can check if the analog cable is connected through looking inside the PC
case. =\

What file format are you trying to rip to - WMA or Mp3?  Is it happening
with all CDs or just this one?
