there isnt a single song in them. does
anyone know what this is meant for?
Thanks,

Not sure but it may be associated with removable media devices like
MP3 players or memory sticks that hvae at some time been used for Sync

In any case, it's a playlist. You can view that in notepad - what are
typical contents if you pasted them here ?

Hmm, it does loook like a template file. I couldn't find any instances
of that on any systems while running WMP - where do you find that file
is created ?

As ZachD noted in your January post (which you didn't respond to) it
could be related to some plugin - Do you have the digital media
edition XP Plus! pack (for example) ? I seem to remember the DMX
prefix is used in some instances of applications from that.

Typically installed components include Sleep Timer plugin, CD label
maker, and so on. Another culprit could possibly be the windows live
messenger plugin showing which track is currently playing - any of
this ringing a bell ?

To check for plugins in WMP10, in the small dropdown underneath Now
Playing, choose Plug-ins and possibly 'Other'. If you've got the menu
bar active (CTRL + M to show that), it's under View -> Plug-ins

Actually I did respond in that thread with:
"none. on new computer with WMP 10"
BUT, there was nobody else to come and say anything more so I posted again.
Thanks for stopping by in this thread.   :-)
I haven't installed any plugins, but I do have the live messenger. although
this was happening before I got live messenger. I haven't ever enabled that
function either. I also don't have XP Plus pack. To tell you the truth I am
not sure where it appears. it has been a while since one popped up because I
stopped deleting them. It was kinda like cutting off a monsters head, more
would come back. I just moved them into the folder with my other playlists
which is in c\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\My Music\Artists\My
Playlists. I know its kind of a weird set up but it was doing this before I
moved everything. I will delete the ones that are there right now and see
where they come back. Thanks for your time.

Well, it always seems to happen to me that When I ask for help with
something, the problem goes away when someone is willing to help. I deleted
it and this time it didn't come back! I have ran a lot of updates recently,
so maybe it was associated with Windows messenger or something like that.
Thanks again for your help.
