Displaying MIDI files ???

How do we display MIDI (.MID) music files in the Windows Media Player in
Windows Vista Ultimate?

When we added a parent folder to the Media Player, which included all types
of music subfolders (MP3, Windows Media Audio Files, MIDI), we could see the
folders and music for the .MP3 and the .WMA music files, but not folder and
music for the .MID files.  The folder with the .MID files is not listed in
the Media Player, even though it was added (along with all the other
folders) as part of the same parent folder monitored by Media Player.  Any
thoughts would be appreciated?

Thanks

You're likely in the "Music" view - did you check the "Other" view in the
Library?

Thank you, zachd!  I guess I simply considered the MIDI files to be music.
Upon accessing the 'Other Media' I was able to see all the MIDI files.  This
is interesting, because the program apparently analyzes the content of a
folder before it displays the folder in the music view - more intelligent
than I anticipated.

Nevertheless, what if a person, for listening purposes, would like to
maintain a custom listing of musical selections composed of MP3, WPM, and
MIDI files?  Is there a music view where the user can view this mixed
content altogether, without toggling between views?

Thanks,
Richard

I think you would have to update the classification scheme used by the
library and then readd all of your music that you want moved between
categories (?).

I could look up how to hack the registry like that if you'd like.  It might
not be supported, though - it's only really meant for new file types.

Thanks, zachd.  I would probably prefer not to play with the registry.  Just
had hoped there would be an easy way from within the native program.

Thanks,
Richard

You could use the Playlist basket to make a mixed playlist and then use that
in the future.  There's no "everything" library view that I'm aware of,
sorry
