Using MP11 on Windows XP Pro with SP2.  Player plays downloaded files on pc
just fine.  Try to play a DVD and you get sound but no video.  We have
backed down to MP10 since, per Microsoft,  MP11  was designed for Vista and
get same result.  Also as an FYI, if we try to play a DVD using Roxio
Cineplayer, we get sound and an upside down video.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Neil -

I ran the utility and it indicates the following:

Sonic Cinemaster DS Video Decoder      CinemasterVideo.DLL  2.7.6.9083
It indicates it is MCE Compatible.

It also indicates that it is not compatible with the synchronization feature
of Windows Media Player 10 and recommends not using as the preferred
decoder.

It shows no additional decoders.

Interestingly enough, however, when I run this utility on a different pc
where media player works OK, I get the same result.

Is there any way to totally remove media player from the pc and do a clean
install since uninstalling from the installed programs screen just rolls you
back?

Problem solved.

Just as an FYI, we downloaded a codec from Download.com which resolved the
problem.

Go to download.com and search for the following:

Windows Essentials Media Codec Pack 1
