Hi there,
I have WMP 10 on XP Pro and every now and then I get a
message saying a media update is available.  The update will then try and
install WMP 10 which I already have and promptly fails.  Why is it doing
this?  Shouldn't it be trying to update to WMP 11 rather than 10 anyway?

What lines contain "ERROR:" in the file c:\windows\wmsetup.log ?
Are you trying to update to WMP11?  If so you can get it directly at the
Microsoft.com site.

Hi Zach,
             the error is:

ERROR: Package 'WMP11AUsetup'.  Result: 0x80072ee2.

I wasn't actually trying to do anything apart from use WMP .  The update
notice keeps popping up.

That's Error: Internet Timeout.

Is Windows Update giving you trouble otherwise?
